Growing Taller with Heel Implants

There appears to be some good news if you are someone that has been trying for a while to grow taller to no avail. There is a suggestion that you can get what you desire with heel implants. How likely are these to help you grow taller and what options do you have? This article answers those questions while also including other suggestions on how to increase height.

Using heel implants to look taller

The search for an ideal solution that can help people, especially adults, to grow taller is one of those that looks to continue for some time more, just like that of anti-aging. Current evidence mostly suggests you are out of luck, as regards getting taller, once your growth plates have fused. But there are those who say you can still increase your height even when that has happened.

Heel implants are among those options that have been suggested as being more likely to help you grow taller. There are basically two types to choose from when considering this. These are Macrolane and Bio-Alcamid.

Macrolane implant

This is a product of the same company that produced the popular anti-wrinkle dermal filler Restylane. The hyaluronic acid filler is mostly used for cosmetic purposes in Europe. Macrolane was original made for correcting abnormalities in soft tissue contour. But these days, people appear to see it more as a tool for breast enlargement.

While you will hardly see people discussing its use for this purpose, Macrolane is also used for heel implantation. It can add a couple of centimeters to your height. This is not really an implant since this is just a filler. The hyaluronic acid that it contains is hardened and looks more like a polymer in the heel.

The process of getting Macrolane implant is highly stress-free, at least mostly. You get the injection into the heel of your foot and you are done. This entire procedure should take just a few minutes to complete. You can have roughly two (2) centimeters added to your height with this.

You should note that this is a temporary solution, though. The height improvement lasts just about a year to one and a half. So it looks like you should be ready for another procedure after some months. You have to bear in mind that this can set you back some $1,500 each time.

Bio-Alcamid implant

Bio-Alcamid was the product of an Italian company, which appears to no longer be in operation. Described as a soft tissue “endoprosthesis,” it is a gel-like polymer that was utilized in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. It was used to address lipoatrophy – a form of facial abnormality from loss of fat and collagen – in HIV patients in the past. However, it did appear to worsen facial deformities and gave rise to other unpleasant side effects. These may have led to the demise of its maker.

The main active ingredient present in Bio-Alcamid is a type of polymer known as polyalkylimide. It becomes a prosthesis in the body after being injected, which is why it is called endoprosthesis. It gets surrounded by a very small collagen capsule measuring about 0.02 millimeters. This way, the polymer is kept separate from other tissues in the body, thereby working more like a physical implant.

This was believed to offer a more permanent alternative to Macrolane for increasing height. But far from it. If it could lead to facial deformities, it may not be wrong to expect the worse happening when Bio-Alcamid is implanted in the heels. It will most certainly lose its potency from regular pressure imposed by your body weight. This makes it no different from Macrolane, even though it costs more.

Hyaluronic acid for height

Although Macrolane may not be a permanent solution, hyaluronic acid has shown potential for helping people become taller. This is a nonsulfated glycosaminoglycan that can be found in epithelial, connective and neural tissues throughout the body. Its nature of being nonsulfated stands it apart from other glycosaminoglycans.

This substance plays a role in the formation of bone, which can have effect on height. It is said to be especially crucial for cranial base growth plate extension. Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan, induces hydrostatic pressure which is an important factor in chondrocyte hypertrophy. It aids chondrocyte cells to become larger, with this leading to increase in the size of cartilaginous growth plates.

Hyaluronic acid helps with cell proliferation and migration. It is an integral part of the extracellular matrix, which promotes tissue healing and regeneration. Matrix cells are believed to work together with stem cells to grow and regenerate different parts of the body.

Increasing your height with a supplement

What can be easier than using a supplement to achieve a health or cosmetic goal? Perhaps, nothing else. It will interest you to know then that there is a supplement that is purported to help you grow taller. It is called Growth Factor Plus.

This is a human growth hormone supplement. You may have heard about this kind of supplements in the past. They are meant to stimulate your pituitary gland to boost production of growth hormone in the body. These products are often marketed for their anti-aging or body building benefits. But Growth Factor Plus targets those interested in enjoying the height-inducing quality of this natural substance.

The supplement features a special blend of amino acids and other natural ingredients that are promised to help you become taller. The formula used for the HGH releaser is unique to it. People who have closed growth plates can still grow taller with Growth Factor Plus, according to the company making it. The target is extension of cartilage discs in your spinal column.

It can be said that heel implants do not really offer anything awesome in terms of results. This is especially so when you consider the promised gain and cost implications. They offer no permanent solution, if at all they work for you. It may therefore not be a bad idea to look elsewhere, except you are desperate to add just a couple of centimeters. Growth Factor Plus, combined with a good diet and regular exercise, may be more beneficial.
